Saw these when they first came out, thought the price was a misprint. But the shape of the blade grabbed me. Thought it was a custom, but plain for the price. When I saw it was a “midtech” for the price they lost me. Every once in a while they’d reappear. That shape I couldn’t get past. I have a full dress Eric Ochs Tatsu whose blade is a lot like this, but the “bull terrier”, man it just really owns the name. These definitions, midtech, semi custom, custom, etc, not sure they apply like they used to. Quality from overseas productions are amazing now, but there’s something to be said about these makers putting their hands on them, no matter what level their participation, machined, hand ground, teched, treated, tweaked, heat treats, 154 v Magnacut steel nerd arguments…if you dig the blade you dig the blade. I’ve talked with Dave several times from Reate, he’s a great guy. But for whatever reason I still like these remarkable pokey sticks made at home. Smooth, well made, nicer in hand than in pictures. I don’t know, Koenigs are going new now for close to $1k. I guess it’s all relative. Is this a $1k knife? Man, you gotta figure that out for yourself. I am no millionaire and do I regret the purchase? Not for a second. Really happy I snagged one of these. There is just something about it, it is unique, it is absolutely awesome. If you can stomach the price tag, you won’t be looking to get rid of this one.
